New Year’s Eve 2026 falls on a Thursday, and Zagreb will welcome 2027 with events across the city. There’s the free open-air concert on the main square and a celebration for children, as well as a big festival at the Zagreb Fair, theatre, gala dinners and parties that run until morning.
Below are the main events, concerts and places to celebrate, with the details confirmed so far.
The City of Zagreb hasn't announced the performers for the main square or the children's programme yet. Last year they were announced at the end of November. We'll update this guide as soon as they're out.
Main Concert on Ban Jelačić Square
The city’s central celebration takes place on Ban Jelačić Square, where thousands of people gather every year for a free open-air concert and the midnight countdown.
The concert runs through the evening and builds up to midnight, making it the most popular and easiest way to see in the New Year in Zagreb. The 2026 line-up will be announced by the City of Zagreb.
Children’s New Year’s Celebration
Families with younger children don’t have to stay up until midnight: Zagreb holds a Children’s New Year celebration earlier in the day, with music and a countdown of its own. Last year it took place on Petar Preradović Square, starting at 11:30. The 2026 programme hasn’t been announced yet.
NYE Festival at the Zagreb Fair
For a big concert-style night, NYE Festival 2027 takes over Pavilion 5 of the Zagreb Fair (Velesajam) on 31 December, with some of the biggest names in regional hip-hop and pop:

- Connect
First-phase tickets cost €49 for regular entry and €69 for the Fan Pit, plus a booking fee. Tables and VIP packages are also available. Tickets are sold through Ticks.

HNK Zagreb: Die Fledermaus on New Year's Eve
The Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb marks New Year's Eve with Johann Strauss Jr.'s operetta Die Fledermaus (Šišmiš), on the main stage at 18:00 on 31 December.
The early start leaves plenty of time for dinner or the main square afterwards, making it a good choice if you'd like to begin the night with classical music in one of Zagreb's most beautiful buildings.
Mamma Mia! at Komedija Theatre
Komedija Theatre on Kaptol, a few minutes’ walk from the main square, celebrates New Year’s Eve with the hit musical Mamma Mia!. The show is in Croatian and runs from 17:30 to 20:00, with tickets from €50, so you still have the whole night ahead of you.
The Great Gatsby New Year’s Eve at Hotel Capital
The heritage Amadria Park Hotel Capital goes back to the 1920s for New Year’s Eve, with Art Deco styling, live saxophone and a DJ. The evening includes:
- Sparkling wine and canapés to start
- A grand buffet dinner and a dessert selection
- Roulette tables and dancing
- A midnight toast, with Krug, Dom Pérignon and Moët & Chandon available at extra cost
There’s a 1920s dress code, so think pearls, flapper dresses and bow ties. For guests not staying at the hotel, the price is €255 per person until 15 November and €299 from 16 November. Hotel guests pay €255. Reservations are made directly with the hotel.
New Year’s Eve at the OIV Tower on Sljeme
For a view of the city at midnight, the glass-walled OIV Tower on Sljeme, at the top of Medvednica above Zagreb, hosts a New Year’s Eve party from 20:00 to 02:00. The programme hasn’t been published yet. As the tower is on the mountain, plan how you’ll get up and back down before you book.
A Daytime Party: Panic Room New Year’s Matinee
If you’d rather celebrate before dark, Panic Room Croatia throws a New Year’s matinee in the atrium of the Zagreb City Museum (Opatička 20, Upper Town) on 31 December from 10:30 to 16:30. They count down to the New Year at noon, with Panic Room’s own DJs on the decks.
Early bird tickets cost €15 plus a €1.50 booking fee and are valid for entry until 12:00. The party is for over-18s only.
Where to Go Out on New Year’s Eve
Zagreb's clubs and concert venues usually announce their New Year's Eve parties in November and December, from rock concerts to DJ nights and electronic music.

Most clubs stay open until the early morning, and 1 January is a public holiday, so there's no rush the next day.
What should you book in advance?
For a stress-free New Year’s Eve in Zagreb, it’s worth booking these early:
- accommodation in the city centre
- restaurants and gala dinners, especially where early booking prices end in mid-November
- tickets for concerts, the theatre and parties
- a taxi or transfer if you’re not staying within walking distance of the celebration
